Boston Ballet: Bitches Brew - premiere of a new ballet by Karole Armitage

Boston Ballet is thrilled to commission a world premiere by Karole Armitage, set to the iconic Miles Davis track "Bitches Brew", with costumes designed by Peter Speliopoulos, VP of Design for Donna Karen New York. Known for boundary-breaking dance and drastic classicism that seeks to engage the audience in new and meaningful ways Armitage has choreographed everything from ballet to music videos for Madonna and Michael Jackson. Her works echoes her classical ballet training, in-depth knowledge of the Balanchine repertoire, and the works of her mentor Merce Cunningham.

In her hands, the classic and modern vocabulary of dance is pushed to the limits of what movement can be. Dubbed "the punk ballerina" by Vanity Fair, Armitage recently choreographed the Cirque du Soleil show "Amaluna" and was nominated for a Tony  for the Broadway revival of Hair.

Karole Armitage's Bitches Brew was made possible in part by a generous gift from John and Janice Doyle.
